Hyperthermia combined with proton beam therapy is an innovative approach to cancer treatment that enhances the therapeutic efficacy of radiation therapy. Hyperthermia involves heating tumor tissues to temperatures between 40°C and 43°C, which can sensitize cancer cells to radiation by disrupting their repair mechanisms and altering the tumor microenvironment. When paired with proton beam therapy, which delivers highly precise radiation doses with minimal impact on surrounding healthy tissue, the combination offers a potent strategy for targeting resistant tumors. This synergy may improve tumor control, reduce required radiation doses, and potentially decrease treatment-related side effects, making it a promising avenue in oncological care.

Our Partners, The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is proud to collaborate with Proton SG to advance education and research in radiation therapy. This partnership will provide radiation therapy students with unparalleled opportunities to learn through cutting-edge technologies and clinical expertise. The collaborative research will focus on optimizing beam arrangements for treating complex cancers, evaluating patient-reported quality of life following proton beam therapy, and leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance patient education. Together, SIT and Proton SG aim to contribute to the development of innovative solutions and improve outcomes in cancer care.
